Our vision and values - Our Vision & Values - Great Heights Academy Trust

Great Heights Academy Trust is entering an exciting phase of growth and development. With nine schools and a diverse portfolio that includes a nationally recognised English Hub, Research School, SCITT and Medical Needs provision, we are a Trust that is both established and evolving. Our vision and values underpin our commitment to collaboration, innovation and improving outcomes and opportunities for all children.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Senior ICT Engineer to join our IT Team and play a key role in supporting and developing the Trust's IT infrastructure and services.

This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong individual to take a leading hands-on role in maintaining, improving and securing IT systems across our academies and central services. You will provide advanced technical support, take ownership of complex technical issues, support infrastructure projects and help ensure that our IT environment is reliable, resilient and fit for the future.

Working closely with the Trust's IT leadership and wider IT Team, you will help maintain high standards of technical support and service delivery, while sharing your knowledge and expertise to support the development of colleagues and the wider service.

We are interested to hear from candidates whose values align with those of Great Heights Academy Trust and who can demonstrate most of the following:

  • Five or more years experience working in an IT infrastructure or technical support environment, ideally within a multi-site organisation.

  • Strong working knowledge and practical experience of administering Microsoft 365, including user and licence management, permissions, security settings and troubleshooting.

  • Experience administering and supporting network security and filtering solutions, with practical experience of Fortinet and/or Smoothwall.

  • Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft technologies, operating systems and associated infrastructure services.

  • Experience supporting and maintaining network infrastructure, including wired and wireless networks, switches, firewalls and connectivity.

  • Experience administering servers, user accounts, permissions, Active Directory and related infrastructure services.

  • The ability to diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, network and infrastructure issues.

  • Experience supporting cyber security, system resilience, backups, updates and access controls.

  • The ability to plan and deliver technical projects and infrastructure improvements.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide technical guidance and support to colleagues.

  • A proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to work independently, take ownership and prioritise competing demands.

Experience within an education environment would be advantageous but is not essential. Relevant professional qualifications and a commitment to ongoing technical development would be welcomed.

What We Offer

This is an opportunity to join a developing Trust at an important stage in its journey, where technology has a vital role in supporting our schools and central services. You will have the opportunity to make a tangible contribution to the development of our IT services, work alongside committed colleagues and continue to develop your technical expertise.

We offer a supportive working environment, opportunities for professional development and the chance to make a positive difference across our Trust.
