SENIOR LEADERSHIP MATERNITY COVER (DEPUTY HEADTEACHER) job summary

East Park Academy is seeking to appoint a Senior Leadership role to cover maternity leave from September 2024, fixed term.

Applicants should have experience of a Deputy Head role, designated safeguarding lead, recent OFSTED experience and core subjects.

During our last inspection in June 2019 we were judged as outstanding after a rapid journey from special measures in February 2016. The journey hasn’t stopped there as we now embark upon our next phase as part of the recently designated Manor MAT teaching hub.

The Deputy Headteacher will work alongside the Headteacher and two Senior Assistant Headteachers to create the Strategic leadership team for East Park Academy. Growing hearts and minds is integral to all that we do. In addition, they will act with honesty; have strong subject knowledge; keep their knowledge and skills as a leader up-to-date and are self-critical; forge positive professional relationships; and work with parents in the best interests of their pupils

Core Purpose

To play a major role under the direction of the Headteacher in formulating the aims and objectives of the school, establishing the policies through which they shall be achieved, managing staff and resources to achieve the aims and objectives of the school and monitor progress towards their achievement.

The Deputy Headteacher will have delegated responsibilities which are both school-wide and of considerable weight. This will be in addition to carrying out the professional duties of a teacher other than a Headteacher.

Core Objectives

To fulfil all the requirements and duties as set out in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document relating to the Conditions of Employment of Headteacher.

To achieve any performance criteria, objectives or targets agreed with or set by the School’s Governing Body in accordance with the requirements set out in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document.

To promote and safeguard the welfare of all children and young people within the School, by ensuring that the School’s policies and procedures relating to safeguarding children and child protection are fully implemented and followed by all staff; resources are allocated to allow staff to discharge their responsibilities; and that staff, pupils, parents and others feel able to raise concerns and that these are addressed sensitively and effectively.

To achieve any performance criteria, objectives or targets agreed with or set by the School’s Governing Body in accordance with the requirements set out in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document.

East Park Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
