Senior Librarian / Independent Studies Manager job summary
Fortismere School is a high-attaining, mixed foundation secondary school in the heart of Muswell Hill, North London, with a strong tradition of excellence. The Headteacher is seeking to appoint a Senior Librarian/Independent Studies Manager. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable, resourceful and adaptable, maintaining a calm, friendly and professional manner in a busy school environment.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a vibrant setting with a wide range of books and resources that support both the curriculum and student enrichment. The library provides a calm and pleasant space for study, encouraging reading for both enjoyment and academic purpose. The Senior Librarian will collaborate with staff and students to identify information needs, promote reading and research skills, and ensure the library remains an inclusive, welcoming environment that supports wellbeing and effective study. The position is offered on a part-time basis, requiring availability on Thursday and Fridays.
The successful candidate will have:
A good level of ICT competency, excellent communications skills, and the ability to work flexibly
Knowledge of working within a Library environment
Have knowledge of communicating with a variety of stakeholders
Passionate about promoting literacy and learning to the pupils.
Ability to problem solve and work inventively
