The hours of work for this permanent HLTA post will be: 8:30am to 12:00pm and 1:00pm to 3:30pm daily during term time, plus attendance at weekly after school Year Team meetings and a day of preparation during the summer holidays, by arrangement, to create a 40 week contract.

Applicants must have:
- Minimum of 2 years previous experience of working in a school or supporting children’s learning and development
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, or qualified by experience
- English and maths to GCSE level
- Effective IT skills that can support learning
Salary will be based on experience and will start within the D grade FTE salary range of £28,697 to £31,573. This equates to an actual salary of £20,412 to £22,458 (£14.87 to £16.37 per hour).

What the school offers its staff
We have an exciting opportunity for someone with strong learning support skills to join our dedicated staff team in the role of Senior LSA (HLTA). We would like to recruit a new HLTA to join our successful four-form junior school team as a permanent member of staff as soon as possible.
At our school, an LSA supports English and maths learning in each class every morning. We have one ‘Senior LSA’ in each year group to lead this team and to model excellent practice as a class LSA, usually working in the Year Leader’s class. In the afternoons, our Senior LSAs work across the four classes in their year group, providing pastoral and intervention support for children with additional needs, forming strong relationships to help children to be successful and covering classes.
Our Senior LSAs play an important role in providing short-term cover for classes under the direction of a teacher. This is timetabled two afternoons a week for leadership non-contact, but can also be needed on an ad-hoc basis. At our school, we place a high priority on promoting wellbeing, for children and staff, and so our Senior LSA role also includes pastoral support - planned and reactive – for the children in their year group.
All of our LSAs establish strong working relationships with the teachers and children in classes they support to effectively enable every child to be successful. Our Senior LSAs work closely with our Year Leaders to help ensure good communication and enable shared goals to be achieved. New members of our team will benefit from a comprehensive induction programme and regular professional development opportunities.
Our Senior LSA (HLTA) role is a very rewarding one and involves working at Hampshire’s LSA 3, Higher Level Teaching Assistant, level which is reflected in the ‘D’ pay scale. Our vacancy is within our team of four Senior LSAs who each work 30 hours per week. The hours of work are 8:30am to 12:00pm and 1:00pm to 3:30pm daily during term time. We hope that our new Senior LSA will also be able to attend weekly after school Year Team meetings and staff at our school have free access to our Wraparound Care before and after school. In addition, we ask staff to spend a day in school during the summer holidays, by arrangement, and these additional hours create a 40 week contract.
As a school we are extremely proud of our successes and the effectiveness of our school improvement work has been recognised by the Local Authority over time. In July this year we had an Ofsted inspection and the report celebrates the positive impact of our Christian Values on children’s development and behaviour – ‘Pupils treat each other with kindness, respect and compassion. Planned experiences help pupils become thoughtful, respectful and responsible members of the school community.’ The report also highlights our supportive working environment – ‘Staff feel valued, supported and positive about working at the school.’
