Senior Premises Manager – Nightingale Primary School

Permanent | Part -Time | 17.5 hours per week | All Year Round

Do you take pride in creating safe, welcoming and high-functioning environments for children to learn and thrive? Are you an experienced facilities professional ready to lead site operations in a vibrant, values-driven primary school?

Nightingale Primary School is seeking a skilled and proactive Senior Premises Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and development of our school site. You will play a vital role in ensuring our building, grounds, and facilities remain safe, secure, clean, and compliant — supporting high-quality teaching and learning in a warm, inclusive school community.

This is a key leadership role with responsibility for site staff, contract management, health and safety, and long-term site improvement planning, in collaboration with our Headteacher and the Trust’s Estates & Compliance Manager.

About the Role

You will be responsible for all aspects of facilities and premises management, including:

  • Site Security – Managing all security systems, keyholding, access protocols, and risk mitigation.

  • Health & Safety Compliance – Ensuring statutory compliance, conducting risk assessments, and leading emergency planning.

  • Maintenance & Projects – Leading on planned and responsive maintenance, coordinating contractors, and delivering site improvement works.

  • Cleaning & Hygiene Oversight – Monitoring standards and managing in-house staff or cleaning contracts.

  • Grounds & Utilities Management – Maintaining external spaces and monitoring energy use to support sustainability goals.

  • Team Leadership – Managing and developing a small site team, including performance, training, and deployment.

  • Finance & Resource Planning – Monitoring premises budgets, managing stock, and contributing to capital improvement plans.

  • Business Continuity – Leading emergency preparedness and acting as a keyholder out of hours (with lone working protocols in place).

We’re Looking For Someone Who:
  • Has significant experience in facilities or site management, ideally within a school or similar environment

  • Possesses a strong working knowledge of Health & Safety, risk management, and statutory compliance (including fire safety and COSHH)

  • Demonstrates strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage staff, contractors, and stakeholders effectively

  • Is solution-focused, highly organised, and capable of managing multiple priorities

  • Holds (or is willing to undertake) appropriate training in areas such as Health & Safety, premises compliance, or facilities management

  • Is proactive, reliable, and committed to upholding the values and safeguarding responsibilities of our school

In Return, We Offer:
  • A welcoming and respectful school culture with high aspirations for all

  • A supportive leadership team and a positive, child-centred ethos

  • Opportunities to work collaboratively across the Maritime Academy Trust’s network of schools

  • Ongoing professional development and access to Trust-wide training

  • The opportunity to play a pivotal role in the running and future development of our school environment
