Sidmouth Primary School - SEND Teaching Assistants to support children with Complex Social/Emotional/Mental Health Needs. 32.5hrs per week (2 posts) job summary

The First Federation Trust, a Multi Academy Trust of 20 primary schools across Devon and Dorset  is seeking to recruit 2 temporary SEND Teaching Assistants to support children on a 1:1 basis and  the teaching and learning of children with SEN, of various age ranges across the school.  Some of  the children have Education Health Care Plans  for needs including those relating to social, emotional and mental health difficulties. These are  temporary positions until 31st August 2024.

We are looking for enthusiastic, flexible and highly motivated individuals to work alongside the class teacher across all areas of the curriculum.

  • To deliver targeted interventions.
  • To promote inclusion through the development of social skills, language and emotional well-being.
  • To work under the direction of the class teacher and liaise with other professionals both within and outside the school.

You will be expected to show a high degree of initiative and be able to react to given situations with integrity and compassion. You should have a good standard of general education, specifically good numeracy and literacy skills.  You will be able to communicate effectively with children and adults, have a flexible attitude and can-do approach.  The successful candidate will need to be a resilient person with a commitment to supporting children in challenging circumstances and have a calm and reassuring presence.  Experience of working with children with social, emotional and mental health needs is essential.

There is an element of Mealtime Assistant linked to this role.
