We are now looking for a dedicated Site Assistant to join our friendly Estates Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in maintaining high standards and wants to be part of a school community where their contribution is genuinely valued.
About the RoleNo two days are the same in this varied and rewarding position. You'll help ensure our school buildings and grounds remain safe, secure and welcoming for pupils, staff and visitors.
You will be supported by a network of experienced Estates colleagues across the KGA Hampshire schools, who are available to provide guidance and assistance whenever required.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Opening and securing the school site, acting as a trusted key holder.
- Carrying out a range of general maintenance and repairs including basic plumbing, carpentry, decorating and minor building works.
- Maintaining the appearance of the school through litter picking, emptying bins and ensuring the grounds remain clean, tidy and safe.
- Completing routine health and safety checks including fire safety equipment, water hygiene (Legionella) monitoring and supporting with swimming pool maintenance where required.
- Setting up rooms and outdoor spaces for school events, performances and community activities.
- Receiving and moving deliveries safely around the site.
- Supporting contractors working on site and helping ensure all statutory compliance requirements are met.
- Taking pride in creating an environment where children can learn safely every day.
Monday to Friday | 6:00 am - 2:00 pm (includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch break).
About YouWe're looking for someone who enjoys being hands-on, solving problems and working as part of a close-knit team.
You'll be someone who:
- Is reliable, trustworthy and takes pride in their work.
- Has a positive attitude and enjoys helping others.
- Can work independently while also being a supportive team player.
- Is organised, proactive and able to prioritise tasks.
- Remains calm under pressure and responds well to unexpected situations.
- Has good communication skills and a friendly approach when interacting with staff, pupils, parents and contractors.
Ideally, you'll also have:
- Experience of general building maintenance, caretaking or a similar practical role.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, decorating or DIY repairs.
- Good physical fitness, as the role involves lifting, manual handling and working across the school site.
- Basic IT skills to complete online compliance records and documentation.
- A willingness to learn new skills through training and development opportunities.
