Are you an experienced facilities or maintenance professional looking to make a meaningful impact within a junior school setting?
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Site Manager to join our team at Alton Park Junior School. In this pivotal role, you will take overall responsibility for the safety, security, maintenance, and cleanliness of our school site, ensuring a high-quality, safe, and welcoming environment for our pupils, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Premises & Maintenance: Lead preventative maintenance programs, handle first-line repairs, monitor heating and plant systems, and oversee minor estate projects.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Act as the on-site Health & Safety Officer, managing routine checks (water testing, fire alarm checks, emergency lighting, PAT testing) and risk assessments in line with legislation.
- Team Leadership: Line manage and allocate tasks to the Site Assistant and oversee the cleaning function and external contractors.
- Security & Lettings: Coordinate site security (locking/unlocking, alarms, CCTV), respond to out-of-hours callouts, and support community lettings and school events.
- Budget Management: Oversee agreed budgets for premises, waste, utilities, cleaning, and health & safety.
What We're Looking For:
You are the perfect fit for our team if you have:
- Proven background in premises maintenance, contractor supervision, first-response repairs, and conducting site-wide H&S checks.
- Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS), security software, cleaning specifications, and COSHH regulations.
- A relevant Facilities Management qualification (e.g., IWFM/BIFM, CIPD, DSBM) is desirable, along with First Aid certification.
- Excellent communication, sound decision-making under pressure, and strong organisational skills to prioritise competing demands effectively.
- A flexible attitude towards working hours to support school events, holiday periods, and occasional short-notice operational needs.
