About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated, proactive and skilled Site Manager to oversee the maintenance, safety and general upkeep of our academy buildings and grounds.
This is a key leadership role within our operations team, responsible for ensuring that both our primary and secondary sites are maintained to a high standard, providing a safe, secure and welcoming environment for scholars, staff and visitors alike.
Working closely with the Operations Manager, you will lead the Site Team, oversee planned and reactive maintenance, and ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety and statutory requirements.
This role requires flexibility, with working shifts scheduled between 6:30am and 7:00pm in line with the operational needs of the academy.
Key Responsibilities
As our Site Manager, you will:
- Lead, manage and support the Site Team, ensuring a consistently high standard of service across the academy.
- Take overall responsibility for the maintenance, presentation and security of academy buildings and grounds.
- Act as a key holder, overseeing opening and closing procedures and maintaining site security.
- Carry out and coordinate general repairs, maintenance and improvement works.
- Support compliance with statutory requirements, including fire safety, legionella management and health and safety regulations.
- Manage contractors on site and monitor the quality of completed works.
- Conduct regular site inspections and ensure maintenance records are accurately maintained.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies, incidents and site-related issues.
- Ensure external areas, pathways and grounds are safe, clean and well maintained.
- Work collaboratively with academy leaders and the Trust Estates Team to continuously improve the learning environment.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has significant experience in site, premises, facilities or building management.
- Holds a recognised trade qualification or has substantial experience in a relevant trade such as joinery, plumbing or general building maintenance.
- Has experience of managing teams and supporting staff development.
- Possesses strong knowledge of building maintenance, health and safety requirements and risk assessments.
- Is highly organised, adaptable and able to prioritise competing demands.
- Demonstrates excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Takes pride in maintaining high standards and finding practical solutions.
- Shares our commitment to providing the very best environment for children and young people.
- Ideally has experience working within an educational setting, although this is not essential.
