Site Manager job summary

Are you a proactive, hands-on individual with a passion for maintaining a safe and welcoming environment?

Our vibrant school community is looking for a dedicated Site Manager to join our team. We are committed to providing an exceptional education to all our pupils. We need a dedicated Site Manager who can help to ensure a clean and safe learning environment for our pupils and staff.

Reporting to the Academy Operations Manager, Head of School and Executive Principal, you will:

  • Ensure the security of the school site, including being on call for emergencies.

  • Carry out maintenance and repairs, including basic plumbing, minor works and decorating

  • Supervise and support cleaners and assistant site staff.

  • Act as the main point of contact for contractors and lettings outside of school hours.

  • Oversee health and safety compliance, including fire safety and site risk assessments.

  • Take responsibility for energy efficiency and recycling initiatives within the school.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in site maintenance, ideally within a school or similar setting.

  • Able to carry out statutory checks and complete relevant paperwork ensuring compliance.

  • Able and willing to identify and complete repairs, general maintenance (including painting).

  • Reliable, hardworking, self-reliant, flexible, and highly motivated.

  • Skilled in basic general maintenance.

  • Organised and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Able to confidently take responsibility for the site in the absence of senior staff.

  • Physically fit and capable of carrying out manual tasks such as lifting and using ladders.

  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

  • A willingness to undertake relevant training (such as Health & Safety, COSHH, or Legionella awareness) is desirable.
