This is a shift share position, with shifts being approximately 7am - 3pm and 11am to 7pm with occasional late evenings to cover school events.
Are you a practical problem-solver with a strong sense of responsibility and a passion for keeping things running smoothly? Wayland Academy is looking for a Site Manager to take the lead in ensuring our school environment is safe, secure, and ready to support the success of our students and staff every day.
What You’ll Be Doing
- As Site Manager, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day management and maintenance of the Academy’s buildings and grounds. You’ll oversee site security, carry out routine maintenance, manage contractors, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. This is a hands-on and varied role where no two days are the same!
- You’ll also play a key role in keeping our facilities in top shape; from making sure heating and lighting systems are functioning, to ensuring our site is compliant with all relevant legislation. You'll lead a small team, manage budgets, support improvement projects, and even keep our Academy minibus clean and road-ready.
About You:
You will be someone who possesses strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills, combined with knowledge of safety regulations. You will be proactive, resilient, able to handle daily challenges, and to maintain stakeholder relationships.
Essential:
- Practical experience in site maintenance and security
- A good understanding of health and safety and statutory regulations
- A proactive approach and strong organisational skills
- Experience managing a team and budgets
- Ability to communicate well with all levels of staff and external representatives
Desirable:
- Experience working in a school setting
- Awareness of environmental and sustainability strategies
