Great Western Academy opened in September 2018 and now accommodates around 1050 students in years 7 to 11 and the Sixth Form. The school is heavily oversubscribed in years 7 to 11 and the Sixth Form is flourishing. Our philosophy of Achievement, Care and Excellence permeates all we do, with Care firmly at the centre of this. We use the phrase “Work Hard, Be Kind” to summarise what we expect of students and to create a culture of positive support where students behave well and are able to thrive, whatever their needs, and where they are proactively and effectively safeguarded.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly organised, student focused Sixth Form Admin Assistant to join our Sixth Form team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a pastoral and administrative role and is committed to helping young people succeed academically, socially and emotionally.

You will play a key part in ensuring that Sixth Form students feel supported, valued and cared for, while also supporting the efficient running of Sixth Form operations. This varied role combines pastoral support, administration, event coordination and careers support.

Who We’re Looking For

A confident communicator who enjoys working with young people

Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities

A positive team player with a student-centred approach

Administrative experience (school or education setting desirable but not essential)

If you are passionate about helping young people achieve success and want to be part of a dynamic and supportive Sixth Form team, we’d love to hear from you. Experience of a similar role would be helpful but not essential as training will be provided.

Additional benefits of working at GWA include:

Excellent CPD opportunities

State-of-the-art facilities

Health and Wellbeing Support Service

Local Government Pension Scheme

Cycle to work scheme through Cyclescheme

Access to EV charging on site. Electric Vehicle Salary Sacrifice scheme

Exciting discounts for days out, experiences and retailers

Easy access to the A419 and free parking

Applications should be submitted electronically by 9am Friday 2nd January 2026. Interviews will take place soon after.

Please note we may interview before the closing date (and close the advert early) depending on the suitability, and number of applicants.
