What skills and experience we're looking for

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced, hardworking and proactive individual to join our Sixth Form Team, in the role of Sixth Form Pastoral Manager.

We are looking for a caring and pro-active candidate to support our highly successful and welcoming Sixth Form Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing student welfare and behaviour, whilst promoting a sense of personal excellence in our students.

The ideal candidate will need to be a confident, professional and approachable communicator, as he/she will be liaising with external and internal stakeholders, including staff, students, parents/carers and the wider community.

The ability to work proactively and efficiently in a busy setting, identifying and meeting stakeholder needs, whilst managing a workload effectively is essential. The successful applicant should have excellent time management skills, be able to meet deadlines, be empathetic, as well as having a flexible approach to work, as priorities could change at short notice.

This role requires a high level of tact, diplomacy and confidentiality in dealing with a range of situations. The ability to remain calm and professional under the pressures of working in a large secondary school is vital.

Experience of working in a similar role in an educational setting, or the keenness and ability to do so, is essential. The role requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, together with strong ICT skills; previous experience of the SIMS software package is desirable, but not essential, as training will be provided for the successful candidate.

The ability to relate well and to show empathy to young people is essential; the successful candidate will provide ‘on duty’ first aid cover at pre-agreed times in the week. Our First Aid Team is made up of several staff members across the school. Full training and support will be provided for this aspect of the role.

Please review the accompanying Job Description, which outlines the full expectations of this highly rewarding role.

If you would like any further information or to arrange a tour of the school (strongly recommended), please do not hesitate to get in contact with our Operations Manager, Mrs Lynn O’Neill.
