Sixth Form Study Support Advisor job summary
This position is focused on supervising and supporting students, in our brand new, purpose built Sixth form building. This new facility provides an exceptional learning environment designed to promote independent study, academic collaboration, and a university-style atmosphere.
You will be instrumental in creating and maintaining a purposeful, quiet, and productive learning environment that promotes independent study skills.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Supervising Study and Common Room Areas: Actively monitoring students to ensure they are engaged in productive, quiet study and adhering to the Sixth Form's code of conduct.
Encouraging Good Habits: Acting as a positive presence to foster an atmosphere of discipline and academic focus, promoting effective revision and research habits.
Providing Pastoral Support: Being a first point of contact for students, offering support and guidance on a range of academic and well-being issues, and knowing when to escalate concerns to the Head of Sixth Form or pastoral team.
Administrative Support: Managing the sign-in/out system for students, monitoring attendance and punctuality, and maintaining accurate records.
Liaising with Staff: Communicating effectively with teachers and the Head of Sixth Form regarding student progress, attendance, and any concerns.
We are looking for an individual who is:
Highly organised and reliable, with meticulous attention to detail.
A strong communicator, able to build positive relationships with students and staff.
Proactive and able to take initiative, solving problems calmly and effectively.
Patient and empathetic, with a genuine interest in the well-being and academic success of young people.
Familiar with an educational environment, with experience working with young adults (desirable).
Confident in their ability to manage a busy study area and enforce school policies consistently and fairly.
