Spanish Teacher job summary

With support from the Head of Faculty the successful candidate will be required to:

To work as a teacher within our popular Languages faculty, we need an enthusiastic, committed, and talented teacher who is ready to make a whole-school contribution and provide excellent Modern Foreign Languages teaching to our students. The Languages faculty strives to create, review, and teach well-researched, exciting, and innovative curriculums to inspire and achieve excellent outcomes for our young people

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Be an inspiring and motivational teacher of Spanish to all abilities ensuring learning is engaging and inclusive and support the French team at KS3 as needed

  • Work with the Head of MFL and in collaboration with other staff to develop schemes of work, AfL, and resources to support students within the curriculum.

  • Commit to the school SEARCH ethos and advise/assist in designing SEARCH days and enrichment opportunities.

  • Have the ability and willingness to contribute to the extra-curricular life of the school.

  • Play an active role as a tutor within a vertical structure.

  • Ensure the behaviour management system is implemented in the Languages area so that effective learning can take place.


Main Responsibilities

Class Teacher Responsibilities

  • To carry out duties of a school teacher as set out in the current School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document

  • To be an excellent teacher who is able to motivate students and ensure that they progress

  • To be responsible for teaching French and Spanish across both key stages

Form Tutor Responsibilities

  • To carry out the responsibilities of a form tutor as outlined in the school’s Role of a Tutor document

Subject DevelopmentTo contribute to:
  • Developing creative and inclusive schemes of work to meet curriculum expectations.
  • Interventions within MFL that ensure all students reach their potential.
  • Developing policies and practices in MFL reflecting the school ethos.
  • Displays and presentation of the Languages teaching corridors and classrooms (with the assistance of the Head of MFL).
  • Strategic use of pupil progress information to improve teaching and learning.
  • Effective deployment of resources to ensure excellent value for money.
  • Planning and delivery of SEARCH days, Open Days/Evenings, and subject promotion events.
  • Establishing common standards of practice and monitoring/evaluating the subject area.
  • Developing an engaging extended schools program, including trips, competitions, and after-school clubs.
Relationships
  • Contribute to positive relationships across the school community and build links with the Governing Body.
  • Maintain effective communication with parents regarding student achievement and wellbeing.
  • Assist liaison with other educational establishments and local community organisations/employer

  • Adopting Customer Care and Quality initiatives.
