Special Education Needs (SEND) Teacher job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the SEND department within an outstanding Secondary School. We are seeking a proactive individual to provide an excellent level of support to students in the School.

We are looking for an inspirational Specialist SEND teacher who is enthusiastic about planning and delivering highly differentiated small group or 1:1 lessons for students with SEND in: Literacy, Maths, Humanities and Science.

This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who has experience of working with students with SEND, who can support them to make outstanding progress in relation to their individual starting points and capabilities. The successful applicant will be comfortable with planning schemes of work to cater for students with SEND. In addition, the desirable candidate will have the skills set to proactively liaise with students’ mainstream subject teachers, to create bespoke lessons and enable students with SEND to access the full curriculum.

We are looking for a teacher who displays the following characteristics:

  • A thoughtful and self-reflective approach to pedagogy;

  • A desire to be an outstanding classroom practitioner

  • A passion for the subject;

  • Excellent ICT skills that makes learning visible in the classroom

  • Excellent subject knowledge and a desire to build on this; and an

  • Enthusiasm for working with 11-16 year old students.

The Prospect Trust is a leading Multi-Academy Trust in the South of England, with an aim of providing outstanding education for all learners within a family of local academies. We also expect staff to undertake a pastoral role as a form tutor. There are also opportunities to get involved in the wider life of the school through trips and extracurricular activities and we will develop every staff member that joins our team, providing one-to-one support, coaching and mentoring and access to extensive professional development.

Any applicant should hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree to be considered for this post. ECTs are welcome to apply
