What skills and experience we're looking for

This post is open to applicants with teaching specialisms in Early Years, Key Stage One and Lower Key Stage Two. The successful candidate will have a thorough handover and ongoing support from the Lead SENCO from The Forge Trust.

What skills and experience we're looking for:

You will be responsible for the management of all additional support given to pupils with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities within the Academy. This will be a demanding, varied, and highly challenging role that will provide an excellent career opportunity for an exceptional individual. The successful applicant will report directly to the Principal.

The successful applicant will have previous experience working as a SENCO/working towards NPQ for SENCO. This will be a challenging role so you will need the drive and ability to demonstrate enthusiasm and a passion for SEN and understand issues affecting pupils with additional needs and how to support them.

The role includes a class teaching commitment from a practitioner who will further strengthen our current teaching team. The position available is for a SENCO/Class Teacher who possess the relentless drive and ambition to improve outcomes for children. This position is open to applications from teachers with a minimum of three years’ experience. In addition, the candidate must have attained National Award for SEN or be currently working towards NPQ for SENCO.

The successful candidates will need to be:

  • Creative, imaginative and passionate about all children having high quality learning experiences across the curriculum
  • Forward-thinking, positive, energetic, reflective and highly motivated
  • Committed to raising standards and working effectively within a team
  • Able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Committed to working in partnership with our families and the local community
  • Able to work collaboratively with other trust leaders and SEND Coordinators to implement the SEND Policy and contribute to its strategic development;
  • Able to oversee the day-to-day operation of the policy with the aim of raising pupil achievement for pupils with SEND;
  • Committed to ensuring effective inclusive practice for pupils on the SEND register in order for them to be independent.
  • To ensure own teaching is ‘inclusion focused’, in line with the revised Ofsted Framework .
