The Governors of Broadoak Primary School are looking for applications from enthusiastic and dedicated individuals who are committed to striving for successful inclusion within our mainstream school. We are looking to appoint someone who reflects the school’s high standards and who is committed to ensuring that all pupils receive an education that allows them to fulfill their full potential and equips them for their next stages in learning and life.

We wish to appoint someone who:

  • Demonstrates a sound knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
  • Has a commitment to equal opportunities and securing good outcomes for pupils with SEN or a disability
  • Is an excellent communicator who works well as part of a team
  • Is committed to ongoing professional development

Applicants should hold Qualified Teacher Status and the National Award for SEN Co-ordination / National Professional Qualification for SENCO (or have a willingness to complete it within 3 years of appointment).


What the school offers its staff

Broadoak Primary School educates nearly 500 children and has a 60 place full-time Nursery. On role we have a high number of children with Education, Health and Care Plans. We wish to appoint a SENDCo who has vision, ambition and a drive to positively impact on our children’s education. The appointed candidate will need to lead a strong 1:1 support staff team to maintain the highest standards of education, alongside excellent pastoral care for identified children. They will also be required to promote good relationships and effectively communicate with all stakeholders, including parents, carers, staff, external professionals, and governors.

Located in Swinton, Broadoak Primary is a heavily over subscribed school, that has excellent facilities, including extensive grounds that drive a commitment to outdoor learning. As an educational team we have track record for achieving high levels of educational attainment from our pupils and put our children at the very centre of our aims. We provide a stimulating environment in which our children feel secure and happy. We converted to Academy status in 2011 and achieved Ofsted Outstanding in 2009.
