Our ethos is based around relational practice, and we believe that all pupils should be treated with unconditional positive regard and that positive relationships are the foundation of a thriving learning community. By adopting a relational approach, the school supports not only academic attainment and attendance but also the emotional wellbeing, resilience, and inclusion of students, staff, and parents alike. In practice, we do not follow a "one size fits all" in relation to punitive measures but we utilise flexible consistency. Expectations of behaviour are high, and we tailor these and implement safe boundaries to individual needs and capacities and take the approach of equity not equality in all aspects of learning. As a result, Springmead is a calm, safe environment in which pupils feel valued, supported and that they belong.
