What skills and experience we're looking for

The Governors of Charles Kingsley’s CE Primary School are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and caring individual to join our school team as soon as possible. The role will involve one-to-one support for children who are experiencing separation anxiety, emotional based school avoidance and autism. This is a fixed-term post until 31 August 2026, initially linked to individual pupil needs, with the possibility of extension subject to funding and staffing requirements.

Sharing and implementing agreed strategies and contributing to review meetings will be a key component of the role. The candidate will preferably have experience of managing pupils with additional needs including social, emotional difficulties.

We are looking for someone to work in partnership with the Inclusion Lead and school who:

  • is nurturing and kind
  • demonstrates high levels of emotional intelligence
  • enjoys working with children
  • is able to work as part of a team
  • has a positive outlook on life with a good sense of humour
  • is organised and able to work independently
  • has competence in Literacy and Numeracy

Your responsibilities as part of your role will include:

  • working 1-1 with children who experience anxiety around the start of the school day
  • supporting children working towards targets to improve their emotional health
  • preparing and organising resources including administrative classroom tasks
  • Ensuring the safety and welfare of all our pupils
