What skills and experience we're looking for

St Blasius Church of England Primary Academy is seeking to appoint a caring, patient and dedicated1:1 Learning Support Assistantto support a pupil with a visual impairment. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a significant difference to a child's educational experience, helping them to access learning, develop independence and thrive within our inclusive school community.

As a member of our committed team, you will work closely with class teachers, parents, carers and specialist professionals to ensure the pupil receives the support they need to achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide individual support for a pupil with a visual impairment throughout the school day.
  • Adapt learning materials and resources to ensure they are accessible.
  • Support the pupil's participation in classroom activities and wider school life.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and self-esteem.
  • Assist with the use of specialist equipment and resources where required.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and external agencies to implement support strategies.
  • Monitor and record progress, contributing to review meetings and support plans.
  • Support the pupil's social and emotional development.

  • Has a commitment to inclusive education and supporting children with additional needs.
  • Is willing to undertake specialist training relating to visual impairment.

  • Has high expectations for children's achievement, wellbeing and independence.
  • Is flexible, reliable and committed to helping every child achieve their God-given potential.
