About the role

We are seeking a Specialist Education Support Assistant to join Charfield Primary School. Working under the direction of the SENDCo, you’ll deliver targeted interventions, support behaviour improvement, and help pupils overcome barriers to learning. This is a rewarding role where you’ll make a real difference to vulnerable learners, both in the classroom and through wider pastoral support.

About you

You’ll be enthusiastic, proactive and compassionate, with a good standard of education (including Maths and English GCSEs) and ideally a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification. Skilled in building positive relationships, you’ll bring patience, resilience and excellent communication to the role. Most importantly, you’ll be a positive role model, committed to safeguarding and to helping every child achieve their potential.

About us

Charfield Primary is a small, friendly school set in beautiful grounds at the heart of Charfield Village. We aim to inspire a passion for lifelong learning, sparking curiosity, promoting creativity and nurturing developing interests so that children grow and thrive on their journey through school. Our curriculum places huge importance on reading and a love of books, while also exploring the ‘big ideas’ of diversity, society and exploration.

Our dedicated team of staff model themselves as lifelong learners, putting children’s best interests at the heart of everything they do. The school boasts wonderful facilities including a forest‑style school, large playing fields, climbing equipment and surrounding woodlands. We value enthusiasm, responsibility and resilience, alongside courage, collaboration and respect - qualities we expect our children and staff to demonstrate every day.

Charfield Primary is part of CSET, a family of schools with a shared ambition to provide ‘a great education for every child’. Our Headteacher leads both Charfield and Tortworth Primary Schools, and while your main base will be Charfield, on occasion you may be asked to support at Tortworth. This collaborative approach allows staff to share expertise and strengthen provision across both schools.

We can offer you:

  • A beautiful school with fantastic grounds in which you can make your mark.
  • A commitment to CPD and development of all staff, including collaborative support within the school and the Trust to allow all staff to thrive.
  • A fantastic opportunity to develop your career in a friendly and supportive school.
  • An ethos which embraces diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Commitment to inclusivity and fostering of diversity.
  • Values, ethos and vision that are lived.
  • An open and honest culture.
  • Local Government pension with up to 19% Employer contributions.
  • Up to 30% discount with Microsoft & Dell.
  • Discounted gym membership.
  • Life Assurance - 3 x Death in Service.
  • Cycle to work scheme.
  • Dedicated counselling service.
  • Flu voucher
