Specialist Learning Support Assistant (for pupils with a vision impairment) job summary
Fixed term contract until 31st August 2026
Salary: Band B Point 7 – 12
13 hours per week
8:30am – 3:30pm (30-minute unpaid lunch break) Wednesday and Friday
38 weeks of the year – Term time plus inset days
This is an exciting opportunity for an inspirational Specialist Learning Support Assistant to take on a crucial role within our school, supporting pupils with a vision impairment.
Are you:
- Passionate and have a positive approach to disability
- Able to empathise with and enjoy working with young people
- Able to work within a team
- A person with good listening and communication skills
Duties include working with pupils with a vision impairment in class and individually, and the preparation and adaptation of materials for access to learning. Training will be available for specialist systems and equipment, and experience of working with children with vision impairment is desirable. The successful candidate will require Grade C at GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English. On the job training will be offered and the potential for professional training is available.
