What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking for a colleague who has:
- Working at or towards the competency standards for Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA).
- Learning Support Assistant Level 2 qualification or equivalent.
- Awareness of policy, procedures, and legislation relating to child protection, health and safety, and the SEND Code of Practice.
- Ability to empathise with the needs of children and in particular able to establish positive relationships with pupils.
- Abilityto consistently and effectively implement agreed behaviour management strategies.

This post is fixed term to 31st August 2027 and term time only plus 5 training days. This post will be specifically based in our Alternative Provision (AP), working in Key Stage 3.We are seeking to appoint a Specialist Learning Support Assistants to collaborate closely with teachers in planning and delivering high-quality programmes of teaching and learning. Under the direction and supervision of a qualified teacher, you will undertake educational activities with individuals, groups, or whole classes.
Key duties include:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver specified learning activities to individuals, groups, and whole classes.
- Liaise with teaching staff to assess pupil needs and assist in the preparation, development, and implementation of Individual Development Plans.
- Provide targeted support for pupils with learning, behavioural, communication, social, sensory, or physical difficulties.
- Partner with teachers, external education/health specialists, and outside agencies to develop multi-agency approaches.
