Specialist Outreach SEMH Assistant - L6 job summary
Hillborough Junior School is seeking to employ two highly skilled, enthusiastic and forward-thinking Specialist Outreach SEMH Assistants to join our experienced Hillrise Provision team.
Hillrise Provision is a longstanding part of the Luton Primary School Social, Emotional and Mental Health Service, supporting Luton schools and their pupils. For 18 years, our support for Primary school staff and children has been helping find pathways to success in school.
Hillrise seeks to support pupils to successfully integrate into school life as much as possible. This is mostly via outreach support, working alongside staff at the pupil’s school. For a few pupils, they might spend a focussed time attending the Hillrise classroom at Hillborough whilst maintaining connections with their mainstream roll school. There is a strong focus on success and achievement emotionally, academically and socially in order for each individual to move towards fully effective education.
Identifying the drivers for the pupil’s behaviour and seeking to meet the child’s needs are a critical element of the role. Successful applicants will be expected to frequently share good practice and work cooperatively with staff, in different schools in Luton, who are seeking support.
Positive support for pupils displaying detrimental behaviour, in order to maintain the safety of everyone in school is essential. Appropriate training and professional development will be available.
