St. Andrew's CEVA Primary School is seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate, and highly motivated SEND Teacher to lead learning within our specialist nurturing provision, The Echo Unit. This role is for a Key Stage 1 SEND class, supporting pupils with communication and interaction needs, including autism spectrum disorder. You will be instrumental in creating a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment where strong, trusting relationships enable every pupil to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, regardless of their individual developmental stage. We are looking for a creative, flexible, highly organised, and resilient practitioner who can deliver a tailored curriculum, promote positive behaviour and well-being, and implement highly effective pedagogy.

Responsibilities

• Lead and teach a small, mixed-age group of pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) where communication and interaction are the primary identified needs
• Tailor learning experiences to the unique needs and interests of each pupil
• Collaborate closely with the SENDCo to establish and deliver an engaging, effective, and differentiated curriculum that builds strong foundations in communication, regulation, and essential life skills
• Employ our established assessment systems to monitor pupil progress, identify next steps, and provide timely, constructive feedback to parents and the SENDCo
• Design and maintain an enriched environment that encourages and celebrates all means of communication and learning
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture that encourages self-advocacy, regulation and positive peer relationships
• Develop and implement targeted SEND plans, in collaboration with the SENDCo, external professionals, and families to ensure holistic support for each pupil
• Work with the SENDCo to ensure our school's inclusion and accessibility policies are rigorously upheld, and that the requirements of the Equality Act (2010) are met through appropriate and effective reasonable adjustments for all pupils
• Attend and contribute to statutory annual reviews
• Participate in relevant professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills, and work collaboratively with other teachers and other staff to share best practice

• A qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent) with demonstrated experience in SEND education or a deeply rooted passion and commitment to working with SEND pupils
• A flexible, empathetic, and proactive individual with a solution-focused mindset, embodying our IASPIRE values
• A strong team player with excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach
• A reflective practitioner who is committed to professional development and inclusive education values
• Commitment to reinforcing the Christian ethos of the school
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance related to SEND and safeguarding
• Experience of developing and implementing support plans
• Proven ability to differentiate instruction and adapt the curriculum to meet individual needs

We are looking for a full-time practitioner to join us, however we are open to discussing part-time requests, job-shares and higher pay scales with the right candidate. This role would not be appropriate for an early career teacher due to the experience with children with SEND that is required.

This position is due to start in September 2026 or as soon as possible if the successful candidate is available.
