Specialist Teacher of Inclusion job summary

Cornwall Education Learning Trust (CELT) is seeking a dedicated, skilled and compassionate Specialist Teacher of Inclusion to join our team and make a meaningful difference to the lives of learners with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and reflective teacher who is passionate about inclusive education and committed to ensuring that every learner is supported, challenged and empowered to achieve their full potential. Working within our Area Resource Base (ARB), you will provide high-quality, specialist teaching and support tailored to individual needs, helping learners overcome barriers to learning and develop their confidence, independence, communication and positive attitudes towards education.

You will plan and deliver engaging, well-sequenced learning experiences that are ambitious, accessible and carefully matched to each learner's starting point. Through adaptive teaching, structured routines and evidence-informed strategies, you will create a supportive learning environment in which learners feel safe, respected and ready to learn, while maintaining high expectations for achievement and personal development.

A key aspect of the role will be understanding each learner's individual strengths, needs and aspirations. You will use Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) outcomes, assessment information, learner profiles and individual success plans to inform teaching, monitor progress and evaluate the impact of provision. You will contribute to the development and review of individual plans, ensuring that support is purposeful, effective and responsive to learners' changing needs.

You will work closely with the SENDCo, inclusion team, colleagues across the school and external professionals to ensure that learners receive appropriate support and opportunities to access the wider curriculum and school community wherever possible. Building positive, trusting relationships with parents and carers will also be essential, ensuring that family and learner voices are central to planning, reviewing progress and identifying next steps.

The successful candidate will understand the importance of safeguarding, wellbeing and positive relationships in supporting learning. You will recognise that behaviour can be a form of communication and respond with calm, consistent and relational approaches that help learners feel secure, regulate their emotions and engage positively with their education.

You will also maintain accurate records of progress, provision and impact, including small-step progress where appropriate, and contribute to annual reviews, transition planning and professional meetings. Working collaboratively with colleagues and external agencies, you will help ensure that each learner receives the right support to make meaningful progress academically, socially and emotionally.

At CELT, we believe that inclusion is everyone's responsibility. We are looking for someone who shares our commitment to collaboration, empowerment, leadership and transformation, and who is eager to contribute to the continued development of inclusive practice across our schools and settings.

If you are a qualified teacher with a passion for SEND, a commitment to high-quality teaching and the determination to help every learner thrive, we would love to hear from you.
