SEMH Support Assistant – (Specialist Teaching Assistant)
Term-Time Only (38 weeks)
34 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
Level 5 Scale point 15-20
Actual Annual salary £22,569-£24,503
Hourly rate: £15.08 - £16.37

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Support Assistant to join our inclusive and nurturing primary school team. This vital role focuses on supporting pupils with SEMH needs, both in the classroom and in small-group or one-to-one settings, helping to remove barriers to learning and promote positive behaviour and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide tailored support for pupils with SEMH needs, both academically and emotionally.
Work closely with class teachers, SENCO, and pastoral staff to implement individual support plans.
Promote inclusion and engagement, helping pupils develop confidence, self-regulation, and social skills.
Assist with behaviour management strategies and provide a calm, consistent presence.
Liaise with parents/carers and external agencies as required.
We are looking for someone who:
Has experience working with children with SEMH or similar needs (school-based experience preferred).
Is calm, patient, and emotionally resilient.
Understands the importance of safeguarding and inclusive practice.
Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Can work effectively as part of a supportive team.
