Salary: Grade 11 Point 29 to Grade 13 Point 36, depending on experience ( NHS Agenda for Band 6 pay equivalent)
Hours:7.5-15 hours per week and 40 weeks per year initially ( 38 weeks plus, INSET week and an additional week)
Contract Type: Permanent
Working Pattern: Working 1 or 2 days depending on availability

About the Role
In-TACT (Multi-Disciplinary Service)
Discovery Schools Trust are seeking to appoint a part-time (1 or 2 days a week) Band 6 Speech & Language Therapist who shares our values and ambitions.
The SaLT will be part of In-TACT, a multidisciplinary service comprised of an Educational Psychology team, Counselling and Music Therapy. The post holder will have the vision, drive, resilience, and experience to build on our success to date and provide further capacity to our trust. The successful candidate will be line managed by the Principal EP and In-TACT Manager and will receive their clinical supervision from a speech and language therapist.
An extensive knowledge of SLCN is a pre-requisite; but we also believe a willingness to learn from others and a commitment to professional development is equally important. Relevant qualifications are necessary alongside a willingness to continue to develop. Key Responsibilities
- Liaise effectively with the In-TACT Services lead and Principal EP.
- To audit the need for SaLT support across Discovery Trust and to establish a co-ordinated plan of provision for all schools in need.
- Devise and deliver appropriate training and consultation services to our trust.
- Be responsible for assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of treatment / intervention programmes for service users according to professional standards whilst adhering to trust policies and procedures.
- The post holder will have access to a second opinion from more senior therapist as identified via clinical supervision. It will be expected that the post holder will source their own supervision which Discovery will fund.
- Provide therapy care plans to be carried out by Speech and Language Therapy assistants and/or Learning Support Assistants/Teaching Assistants while retaining overall responsibility for the clients.
- Provide feedback, guidance, advice and training to parents/family members, carers and members of the multidisciplinary team in all aspects of speech, language and communication acquisition.
- Foster close working relationships with colleagues and other relevant professionals in maximising the service user’s potential
- Actively engage in own appraisal.
- Attend and take part in half-termly In-TACT meetings.
What We’re Looking For
Skills & Knowledge:
- A recognised professional degree qualification in Speech and Language Therapy
- Registered member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
- Knowledge and understanding of the application of relevant SLT diagnostics, theoretical models, and approaches relevant to service users
- Ability to work autonomously and cooperatively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Registered member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Experience of working with parents, carers and other professionals
- Effective organisational/planning and decision-making skills
- Ability to communicate complex, sensitive and emotional information using a variety of modes of communication
- Minimum of 2 years post registration experience
- Experience of working with a range of SLCN including those associated with learning disabilities, complex medical needs and mental health needs
