What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking to appoint Speech & Language Therapy Teaching Assistants who will work within a class team and will have a key role in the implementation of Speech and Language programmes in the classroom.
Split over three main sites with additional Satellite provisions, Phoenix supports young people aged between 3 and 19. The Role
- Plan and run communication activities for individuals and small groups with support from class teacher/SaLT
- Where necessary run a specific communication programme devised by the SaLT
- Work with the class teacher to plan and prepare appropriate visuals and resources for lessons and for specific communication groups.
- Work with the class teacher to plan and prepare transition packs including timetables, I am working for and motivators to support pupils in transitions around the school and offsite
- Advocate for the communication needs of the students in your class
- Record interventions run within the classroom
- Develop and prepare visual materials for therapy and classroom sessions.
- Work under supervision of a Speech and Language Therapist and a class teacher.
- Provide effective support to less experienced colleagues, modelling good practice.
- Keep written records of pupil observations.
- Assist in provision of training to staff and colleagues.
- Carry out general Teaching Assistant responsibilities.
