Opened in 2019 and located in Beldams Lane in Bishop’s Stortford, the Herts & Essex Sports Centre is a state-of-the-art facility that boasts excellent facilities including six outdoor courts, a sand-dressed astro-turf pitch, a sports hall, a dojo and a social space including a licenced bar. The Sports Centre is used by Herts & Essex students, local partners such as Bishop’s Stortford Judo and Bishop’s Stortford Hockey Club and by members of the local community.
The Herts & Essex Sports Centre is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and customer-focused Senior Duty Manager to help lead the day-to-day operation of our thriving sports and fitness facility. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong people skills, a passion for sport, health and wellbeing, and a desire to develop their career within the leisure industry.
As Senior Duty Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the Sports Centre while providing leadership and support to the wider team. You will help drive the continued growth and success of the centre, maintain high operational standards and deliver excellent customer service to our members, partners and visitors.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the day-to-day management of the Sports Centre
- Leading and motivating staff to maintain exceptional standards
- Ensuring outstanding customer service across all areas of the facility
- Assisting with staff rotas and team management
- Supporting events, sports activities and centre promotions
- Managing bookings, memberships and reception operations
- Maintaining high standards of health, safety, security and cleanliness
- Assisting with the operation of the bar and kitchen when required
- Helping to promote the Sports Centre through marketing and social media activity.

- Is organised, resilient and willing to lead by example
- Is confident using Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel.

Hours: Full-time (shifts will vary weekly including daytime, evening and weekend)
