Sports Coach job summary

Are you passionate about inspiring children through high-quality sports provision? We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Sports Coach to join our team and play a key role in delivering an engaging, inclusive and ambitious sports curriculum across the school.

Working closely with teaching staff, you will help raise standards of achievement by delivering high-quality physical education, developing wider sports opportunities, and nurturing pupils’ confidence, wellbeing and participation. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is enthusiastic about supporting young people, committed to ongoing professional development, and ready to make a genuine difference in our school community.

What We’re Looking For
  • A Level 2 NGB qualification in at least one Sport England recognised sport (or equivalent)

  • Proven experience delivering coaching programmes to primary-aged pupils

  • Ability to lead inspiring sessions across PE, sports clubs, interventions and wider enrichment

  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, health & safety and sports equity principles

  • Excellent communication, teamwork and organisational skills

  • A positive, self-motivated individual with a commitment to high standards and inclusive practice

  • Willingness to cover PPA/absence through planned sports-led lessons

  • A dedication to professional development and continuous improvement

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality PE and sports sessions across EYFS, KS1 and KS2

  • Plan and lead targeted sports interventions to support pupil progress

  • Prepare and deliver the wider sports offer according to school needs

  • Support teachers in planning, evaluating and resourcing effective lessons

  • Model and support strong behaviour expectations and a purposeful learning environment

  • Provide clear feedback on pupil progress, achievement and behaviour

  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families to enhance engagement

  • Contribute to after-school clubs, competitions and wider enrichment opportunities

  • Uphold the school and Trust’s values, policies and safeguarding commitments
