About this Role

Our PE & Sports Coach will play a pivotal dual role within Bushbury Lane Academy. You will deliver high quality PE lessons and provide professional development for teaching staff, while also leading enrichment activities, games, and sports provision during break and lunchtime. A key part of the role includes organising school games, competitions, and local sports partnership events. The role will also include some Mentor work with individual children, and general Teaching Assistant work supporting in class.

This position requires initiative, strong organisation, and a passion for maximising opportunities to improve children's physical well‑being through lessons, structured play, clubs, and wider sporting engagement. We are looking for someone excited to lead and elevate all aspects of PE and sport, helping us continue to build on our strong reputation for sporting excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver the majority of PE lessons across the school, from Early Years to Key Stage 2.

  • Support and develop teaching staff in planning and delivering high quality PE.

  • Lead breaktime and lunchtime sports provision, ensuring engaging and inclusive activities.

  • Organise school sports events, competitions, and partnership activities.

  • Contribute to the strategic leadership of PE across the academy.

  • Promote a positive, active culture that supports children's physical development and well‑being.

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applicants from a range of backgrounds, including:

  • Sports coaches working outside school settings.

  • Graduates who have studied PE or sport related subjects.

  • Individuals aspiring to train as PE teachers.

  • Qualified coaches or teachers seeking the opportunity to shape a school’s PE curriculum and provision.

Above all, we value:

  • A genuine passion for sport and physical education.

  • The ability to coach, motivate, and inspire young children.

  • Strong communication skills and a positive, proactive approach.

  • A commitment to creating high quality, inclusive PE experiences.

Formal qualifications can be developed on the job; what matters most is your enthusiasm, skill in working with children, and drive to make a meaningful impact.
