Sports Coach job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic, skilled and highly motivated Sports Coach to lead high‑quality Physical Education lessons across our primary school. The successful candidate will inspire pupils of all ages and abilities, promoting a love of physical activity and encouraging healthy, active lifestyles.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about sport and child development, who can deliver engaging PE lessons, support school sports initiatives and contribute to wider school life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver PE lessons from EYFS to Year 6, ensuring high engagement and clear progression.
  • Deliver a broad and ambitious PE curriculum aligned with national expectations.
  • Organise and run lunchtime and after‑school sports clubs.
  • Prepare pupils for inter‑school competitions, festivals and sporting events.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to support class-based physical activity and promote whole‑school wellbeing.
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour, safety and inclusion during all physical activities.
  • Promote teamwork, resilience and positive attitudes to sport.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Is passionate about PE, sport and promoting healthy lifestyles.
  • Has experience working with children in a coaching or school setting.
  • Can engage, motivate and inspire pupils across a wide age range.
  • Has strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and the wellbeing of all children.
  • Holds relevant coaching qualifications (Level 2 or above preferred) or equivalent experience.
