What skills and experience we're looking for

The Portsmouth Academy is seeking to appoint a Student Engagement Worker (Teaching Assistant) to join our dedicated and vibrant team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about making a positive impact on young people's lives by supporting their learning and wellbeing.

As a Student Engagement Worker, you will play a vital role in promoting both the physical and mental wellbeing of our students, working closely under the direction of our teaching staff. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on variety and has a strong desire to support young people in reaching their full potential.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support students' learning by supervising and assisting them in 1:1 sessions and small groups
  • Help students engage across a variety of learning activities
  • Work collaboratively with staff to ensure students have access to the resources they need to succeed

About You:

  • Experience in working with young people to support their mental and physical wellbeing
  • A confident communicator with strong written and verbal skills
  • Educated to a minimum Grade 4/C (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
  • Highly motivated, energetic and reflective with a passion for helping students and building positive relationships with both students and parents/carers

Working hours: 8am to 3.30pm or 8.30am to 4.00pm Monday to Friday
