Stamford Welland Academy is seeking a compassionate and motivated Student Support Assistant to join our committed pastoral team. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in promoting student wellbeing, attendance, behaviour and achievement, helping to create a positive and inclusive environment where every student can succeed.
About the role:
Salary: £25,372 - £28,444 per annum
Hours of work: 37 hours per week, 39 weeks of the year (term time plus 7 days)
The Opportunity:
As a Student Support Assistant, you will work closely with students, families, teaching staff and external agencies to provide pastoral support and guidance. You will build positive relationships with young people, helping them to develop confidence, resilience and the skills needed to succeed in school and beyond.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting students with their wellbeing, behaviour and attendance.
- Providing mentoring and guidance to individuals and small groups.
- Working with families to improve student engagement and outcomes.
- Assisting in the identification and support of vulnerable students.
- Supporting the implementation of pastoral and safeguarding procedures.
- Monitoring student progress and maintaining accurate records.
- Contributing to a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is passionate about supporting young people.
- Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Can remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
- Is organised, proactive and able to work independently.
- Has experience working with children or young people (desirable).
