Student Support Officer job summary
About Corby Technical School and the Role
At Corby Technical School, we believe in unique learners, unlimited ambition. Our aim is for every student to leave us ready for a successful next step, equipped with the confidence, resilience, and skills to thrive. We create an environment of high support and high challenge, rooted in an inclusive culture and a strong commitment to restorative, asset-based approaches.
We are seeking a Student Support Officer to join our pastoral team—someone motivated by making a genuine difference in young people’s lives. This is a varied, people-centred role where relationships are key, and no two days are the same. You will work closely with students and families to promote wellbeing, positive behaviour, and personal development, while supporting school systems that ensure strong attendance, punctuality, and progress. A central part of the role is working in a mentoring capacity, providing 1:1 support and targeted interventions that help students re-engage with their learning, build confidence, and develop the habits they need to succeed. You will coordinate support plans alongside colleagues and external partners to remove barriers to learning, while also monitoring progress and conduct, maintaining high expectations and helping every student move towards a positive future.
We are looking for someone who is approachable, adaptable, and resilient, with a genuine belief in the potential of every young person. Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust are essential, as is a commitment to working collaboratively and maintaining professionalism. Previous school experience is not required—we will provide training—but a clear sense of purpose and a willingness to contribute to a supportive, ambitious team is key. This is a busy but deeply rewarding role for someone who wants their work to have a meaningful, lasting impact every day.
Contract: Term time only, 37 hours per week
Hours: 8.00am to 4.00pm Monday to Thursday, 8.00am to 3.30 Friday
Join us and be part of a team that is committed to high standards, high expectations, and high support for every learner.
