Student Welfare Officer job summary

King’s Academy Binfield (KAB) is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Student Welfare Officer - Secondary to join our dedicated secondary support team. This is a vital role within our all-through academy, providing first aid care, supporting student health and safety, and serving as a trusted point of contact for student well-being.

About the Role

As our Student Welfare Officer, you will oversee the day-to-day medical and welfare needs of our secondary students. Working as a qualified first aider, you will respond swiftly and empathetically to accidents, injuries, and illness, while maintaining clear communications with families and external healthcare agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide immediate first aid care and medical attention to students, staff, and visitors in accordance with academy protocols.
  • Manage student health plans, medical records, record medical incidents, and medication administration with absolute confidentiality and care.
  • Liaise with external medical agencies, emergency services, and healthcare professionals as required.
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment that promotes overall student well-being and safety.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a confident, calm, and organised individual who thrives in a dynamic school environment. You will possess:

  • Relevant medical training and a valid First Aid qualification (or willingness to undertake advanced certification).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations calmly and professionally.
  • A proactive approach, excellent organizational skills, and the capability to work efficiently under pressure.

Our all-through school opened in a superb new building in September 2018 and we have grown year on year, with our first Year 11 students currently in the final year of their GCSE study. In addition to the secondary phase, we also have two primary phases set across two sites, King’s Academy Binfield (KAB) and King’s Academy Oakwood (KAO). In September 2023, we will have students from year N to year 6 in primary and year 7 through to year 12. Our 6th Form will be opening in September 2023.
