Study Skills Facilitator job summary

Study Skills Facilitator

Do you enjoy helping young people find the best way to learn, grow, and succeed? Are you confident in motivating others, building positive relationships, and sharing your skills to help others achieve their goals?

If you have answered YES to these questions, then apply now and you could be our new Study Skills Facilitator!

Blackpool Sixth is a first class college,  specialising in 16-19 education, and we’re on the lookout for an enthusiastic, proactive people-person to join our Learning Resources and Careers team.  Based in our vibrant FYi learning hub, the team empowers students to become confident, independent learners while preparing them for life beyond college. Your mission? To give every student the tools, knowledge, and confidence to thrive.

As our Study Skills Facilitator, you’ll be the go-to person for helping students make the most of their learning. Your work will be dynamic, hands-on, and hugely rewarding; providing one-on-one study support and running inspiring small-group workshops in a teacher-supported environment. You’ll deliver tailored activities that make study skills both relevant and fun, showing students how to succeed in their subjects and beyond.

You’ll bring experience supporting young people, along with strong organisational and IT skills, to this varied and exciting role. Alongside helping students with their study skills, you’ll also get involved in administration, maintaining accurate records, using relevant databases/tracking systems, and helping students navigate our fantastic library and digital resources. Flexibility is key! Experience in education, a library, or a learning resource centre is a bonus; but not essential.

A day in your new role could see you:

  • Inspiring students to use their study time effectively
  • Designing and leading engaging workshops with small groups of students on study skills, research, and organisation
  • Creating and promoting resources to boost independent learning
  • Supporting students with access to learning resources
  • Keeping our learning environment welcoming, well-organised, and resourceful
  • Providing excellent customer service to those who used the area and its resources

Apply now and be part of the magic that is Blackpool Sixth!

Closing date: 25th September 2025

Interviews: 1st October 2025
