Subject Improvement Lead (MFL) job summary

Your Opportunity

Are you an experienced and passionate MFL educator ready to make a Trust-wide impact? GLF Schools is seeking a dynamic Secondary MFL Improvement Lead to drive excellence across our eight secondary schools. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of MFL education, working collaboratively with senior leaders and subject specialists to raise standards, enhance curriculum design, and support professional development.

As part of our School Support Team, you will lead the strategic development of MFL, ensuring ambitious outcomes for all students. You’ll have the chance to influence curriculum coherence, assessment strategies, and teaching quality, while building capacity through coaching, mentoring, and network leadership. This role offers a blend of autonomy, collaboration, and innovation—perfect for someone ready to take the next step in system leadership.

Please note that this role will be remote, with frequent travel to the secondary schools within GLF (Surrey, Berkshire, Oxfordshire). 

What we are looking for

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated MFL professional who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in Secondary MFL and is a fluent speaker of French or Spanish
  • Has a proven track record of securing excellent outcomes for students across Key Stages 3–5
  • Demonstrates deep subject knowledge, strong pedagogical understanding, and the ability to lead curriculum development
  • Is confident in using data to inform planning and drive improvement
  • Has experience in coaching and mentoring colleagues to improve classroom practice
  • Is proactive, reflective, and solution-focused, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Can work independently and collaboratively, influencing and inspiring others
  • Experience in system leadership or school-to-school support is desirable, as is an understanding of MFL developments at Key Stage 2.
