Subject Lead of Philosophy, Ethics and Religion job summary
The Kingston Academy seeks an ambitious and motivated Subject Lead of Philosophy, Ethics and Religion with a strong command of their subject and who is ready to lead this popular subject at GCSE and A-Level.
The Kingston Academy is an outstanding Secondary School in North Kingston, which opened for the first time in September 2015 with a cohort of Year 7 pupils. TKA has received a substantial capital grant for the refurbishment of the existing educational facilities and for additional new modern buildings which we have now taken possession of. Our mission is to provide a world-class education for all the young people within our community to ensure that every pupil is safe, happy and succeeds. We now have over 1000 pupils across the seven year groups from year 7 to year 13.
We invite applications from candidates with the following attributes for this role:
- Passionate about their subject and skilled at teaching Philosophy, Ethics and Religion at Key Stage 3, 4 and 5. A keenness to shape and deliver a coherent, high quality Philosophy, Ethics and Religion curriculum;
- Willingness to develop and improve teaching and learning resources and professional development to support the delivery of excellent Philosophy, Ethics and Religion;
- A strong classroom practitioner, with the ability to engage pupils;
- A proven track record of achieving strong results in delivering both GCSE and A level Philosophy, Ethics and Religion;
- Flexible and committed to engage in the wider curriculum through our Going Beyond and enrichment activities.

Interview Procedure
Our selection procedure will aim to identify with rigour whether the candidate fulfils the requirements of the post and will include the consideration of the candidate’s suitability to work with children and young people. The process will include:
- Teaching an observed lesson with a selected class group;
- Meeting with a panel of our pupils for informal question and answer session;
- Presentation and Interview with Head Teacher, Head of School and Senior colleagues.
