Subject Leader for English job summary

Working closely with the Head of Faculty, you will:

  • Lead agreed priorities within the English Faculty, particularly in Teaching and Learning and curriculum development
  • Secure consistently high standards of teaching, learning and assessment
  • Contribute to ambitious, coherent curriculum planning across Key Stages
  • Support quality assurance processes and raise achievement for all groups of students
  • Model the highest professional standards and foster a culture of aspiration, discipline and respect
  • Contribute to collaborative working across the school and wider Trust

The role offers the opportunity to shape curriculum direction, support colleagues, and play a key role in securing exceptional student progress and outcomes.

About You

We are looking for a colleague who:

  • Is a highly effective and reflective classroom practitioner
  • Has strong subject knowledge and secure understanding of GCSE requirements
  • Demonstrates the ability to support and develop others to improve classroom practice
  • Has high expectations of students and a relentless focus on achievement
  • Is committed to inclusive practice and overcoming barriers to learning
  • Communicates effectively with students, colleagues and parents
  • Is ready to contribute to Faculty leadership as Second Lead

You will hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant degree.
