Subject Leader of Business Studies job summary

Lady Lumley’s School Post: Subject Leader of Business Studies Number on Roll: 892 (125 in the sixth form) Commencing: January 2022 (ideally) Salary: MPS/UPS plus TLR 2.1 Are you looking for either your first Head of Department post or your next opportunity? Can you strategically lead and teach Business Studies? If so we would love to hear from you! Lady Lumley’s School (11-18) in Pickering is on a transformational journey. We are a school that is popular with parents and is easily accessible across North Yorkshire, East Riding and Wolds and Vale. The communities we serve around the Pickering, Ryedale and wider Coastal area deserve and need our school to play a leading role in terms of teaching, learning, progress and outcomes. In April 2020 we welcomed our new Headteacher Clair Foden who joined us at the same time we joined our Trust - Coast and Vale Learning Trust. Lady Lumley’s is on an ambitious journey of school improvement. Although Ofsted on their last full inspection judged the quality of education and our sixth form provision to be ‘good’, we know there is significant scope and work to do to ensure at all times ‘we are being our best’ for our students, staff and community. 2021/2022 is hugely exciting for our school. Our Trust (Coast and Vale Learning Trust) is a growing family of schools based across the North Yorkshire Coast and Wolds and Vale. As the newest member of the Trust we are working closely with our sister school Scalby School (11-16) as we share learning, best practice and build a secondary hub our coastal area can be proud of. With access to the Teaching Alliance, NLE and subject/leadership experts we continue to rightly place staff development, training and resources at the heart of our journey. #wearelumleys Our Opportunity This is a key appointment for us and hopefully for you! We are looking to appoint a skilled teacher and developing leader who will join our middle leadership team as our new Subject Leader of Business Studies. We currently offer Business Studies at both KS4 where we follow the AQA specification, and at KS5 where we follow the EdExcel specification. In addition we also currently offer the BTEC First Enterprise qualification which is popular with our students at KS4. As our new Head of Business Studies you will need resilience, emotional intelligence as well as the ability to work with and take colleagues with you. Coaching and mentoring will be in your DNA as a colleague, as you will play an important role as together we transform our school. We are looking for: • A proven track record of raising both attainment and standards of teaching and learning within Business Studies • A strong vision and ethos that supports our values and culture. • Teaching experience across KS4 and KS5 We can offer you: • Significant levels of support from both our Headteacher/SLT, Coast and Vale Learning Trust and a staff team who are experienced, committed and passionate about our school. • An opportunity to see the huge potential that exists here and with clear support, tenacity, energy and time to make Business Studies at Lady Lumley’s a beacon of excellence in secondary education. • A school improvement partnership model which will allow you to have autonomy as a Subject Leader and opportunities to work with fellow colleagues across our growing Trust. Join our school and make a real difference to our students, staff and your career in an area that offers so much!
