Subject leader of economics job summary
The Economics department is a growing, highly motivated department at Highlands Secondary School, where we are deeply committed to delivering best-practice pedagogy across both GCSE and A-Level. As one of our most popular subjects, Economics at Highlands is defined by a culture of academic curiosity and consistently outstanding results. Our department consistently achieves ALPS 2 at A-level and this year we are taking a group of our A-level students to Berlin on an international Economics trip.
Our students are driven and high-achieving, with a significant number choosing to pursue the subject at top Russell Group universities. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead, motivate and drive forward a vibrant, successful team that balances rigorous academic standards with a passion for shaping the next generation of economists.
Highlands is an Outstanding school (OFSTED 2011, 2014 and 2024) at which students consistently outperform national expectations in terms of both attainment and progress. Outstanding outcomes provide our students with the opportunity to continue their studies at prestigious institutions; students at Highlands regularly receive offers from medical schools, Oxbridge and Russell Group universities. Colleagues joining Highlands are joining one of the most popular and successful schools in north London.
The work we do at Highlands is underpinned by our values: determination, aspiration, respect and equality (DARE).
