The Successful Applicant Will

  • Demonstrate effective subject knowledge planning and provision, modelling outstanding practice and disseminating examples of ‘good practice’ for learning and teaching
  • lead and have a clear vision for future development of reading and phonics
  • have a strong knowledge of the teaching ofreading and phonics across school
  • monitor, evaluate and review pupils’ progress, behaviour, achievement and attainment and ensure appropriate actions are in place where issues are identified both of their own class and others
  • have the personality, drive and ambition to inspire, coach and mentor both staff and pupils
  • be flexible and passionate about ensuring all staff are motivated to work effectively with pupils to achieve their personal best withing your classroom and across school within reading
  • promote the school’s values and engage with parents, carers and the wider community; assisting parents to supporting their children’s learning
  • have extremely high expectations of themselves and learners –promoting and modelling behaviour for learning resulting in excellent progress and positive outcomes for every pupil
  • have experience of leading a subject and be able to demonstrate having supported whole school improvement
  • create an outstanding learning environment and culture for reading
  • provide pastoral care of pupils and support theirpersonal development and well-being
  • have an understanding and commitment to safeguarding and contribute to the school’s child protection procedures

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader looking to work with a committed team of professionals to drive standards in reading across school in addition to developing their skill set and leadership ambitions.

We are seeking to appoint a highly inspirational and highly motivated teacher to work with engaged and well-behaved pupils. It is imperative that we appoint a talented member of staff who shares our vision of delivering a broad, balanced and exciting curriculum in a bright, attractive and supportive environment. The successful candidate will have high expectations and the knowledge, experience and interpersonal skills to drive and sustain improvement both in their own class and across school.

The person appointed will possess: excellent curriculum knowledge; high quality teaching skills; good communication and teamwork skills and demonstrate a desire to support continuous school improvement and their own professional development.They will also have a proven track record of improving standards of reading and a strong working knowledge of phonics, early reading and beyond.

The post we have available for September is only suitable for an ambitious candidate with3 or more years teaching, demonstrating experience of early reading and phonics, who are looking to further strengthen their leadership skills. The successful candidate will align themselves closely with the values and ethos of the school and match the high levels of discretionary effort that current staff display.
