Main Purpose of the Role
- To fulfil all aspects of the Teachers’ Standards (DfE).
- To deliver consistently high-quality teaching and learning.
- To promote pupils’ personal development, wellbeing and Christian values.
- To contribute to the wider life and improvement of the school.
- With support from colleagues, to lead and promote a curriculum area.
1. Teaching & Learning (Teachers’ Standards 1–4)
- Set high expectations for all pupils.
- Deliver well-structured, well-sequenced lessons.
- Use assessment to inform planning and teaching.
- Adapt teaching to meet the needs of all learners.
- Maintain a purposeful classroom environment.
- Use the school’s curriculum plans, Bloxham Basics and behaviour systems consistently.
2. Assessment, Feedback & Data (Teachers’ Standards 6)
- Assess pupil progress accurately and regularly.
- Use Insight, Blue Reviews and school assessment tools effectively.
- Provide timely feedback to pupils in line with policy.
- Identify gaps, plan and implement interventions and engage in progress meetings.
3. Safeguarding, Behaviour & Welfare (Teachers’ Standards 7–8)
- Follow all safeguarding policies and use MyConcern.
- Promote pupil safety, wellbeing and Christian values.
- Maintain high expectations of behaviour.
- Work collaboratively with Inclusion and Pastoral Teams.
4. Professional Responsibilities (Teachers’ Standards Part 2)
- Demonstrate professionalism, integrity and a positive attitude.
- Engage in CPD, appraisal and reflective practice.
- Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues and agencies.
- Contribute to staff meetings, training and wider school activities.
5. Subject Leadership (For All Teachers Beyond ECT)
All teachers who have successfully completed ECT induction must lead or manage a curriculumsubject or whole-school area.
Responsibilities include:
- Reviewing curriculum planning and progression.
- Monitoring teaching, books and pupil outcomes in the subject.
- Supporting colleagues with planning and subject knowledge.
- Leading staff updates, briefings or CPD where appropriate.
- Managing resources and subject documentation.
- Leading improvements and feeding into school development planning.
6. Whole-School Commitment
- Support school events, trips and enrichment activities.
- Participate in worship, assemblies and community events.
- Contribute to the school environment and positive staff culture.
Contribute to whole school communications including - Threads, ParentHub and the schoolnewsletter
- Uphold and model the school’s Christian vision and values.
7. General Duties
- Uphold all school policies and safeguarding expectations.
- Maintain professional communication and confidentiality.
- Undertake any duties reasonably required by the Headteacher.
