Wansdyke School is looking for a confident and experienced Teacher to work in its dedicated Complex Needs Resource Base on a part-time basis, starting September 2026. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who is passionate about encouraging all children to succeed and achieve their fullest potential.

Working Hours: Part-time (0.2 FTE – one full day, Friday)

Educating children between the ages of 4 and 11, we are located in the market town of Devizes, Wiltshire. We are proud to have very incredible children, who show exceptional behaviour and attitude to learning. We have a supportive parent body and a 28 place Complex Needs Resource Base, which supports children with additional needs from across the county. Our passionate staff are committed to raising standards and achieving excellence and, in 2021, we retained our ‘Good’ Ofsted rating and were praised for providing a purposeful and engaging curriculum, which allows pupils to flourish personally and academically. We are part of Acorn Education Trust, which provides exciting opportunities to improve local education and draw on collective experience.

As a Complex Needs Resource Base Teacher, you will teach both classes within our resource base, supporting the learning and development of children requiring SEND support and will make a real difference to their school lives. QTS status is essential for the role, as is experience in SEND.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is committed to becoming a truly excellent teacher and developing expertise in the teaching of pupils with complex cognition and learning needs;
  • Can teach a broad range of engaging and effective lessons that motivate, inspire and improve student attainment across a range of activities;
  • Can ensure that teaching is broad, balanced, relevant, motivational and appropriately differentiated in order to maximise the academic potential of pupils;
  • Is able to raise attainment and challenge pupils to achieve their best;
  • Has a commitment to extra-curricular activities;
  • Can demonstrate effective behaviour management;
  • Has good knowledge and awareness of current initiatives in the Primary Curriculum;
  • Has experience working with children/young people with SEND;
  • Is an effective team member who can contribute positively to our Complex Needs Resource Base team and across the wider school community;
  • Has a positive, cheerful outlook with a good sense of humour;
  • Is able to forge good relationships with students and staff;
  • Has a desire to work within the Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) structure.

We can offer the successful candidate:

  • An ambitious and vibrant place to work, with enthusiastic children and staff who are passionate about learning;
  • A workplace where everyone feels valued and supported;
  • Opportunities for training and progression;
  • The support of Acorn Education Trust, with excellent opportunities to work with experienced colleagues;
  • A supportive and clearly defined induction procedure.
