Teacher - Early Years (Reception Class) job summary

About this Role

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic class teacher who wishes to make a difference to all children. You will have a clear vision of what constitutes excellent provision within a primary school setting and will be committed to achieving the highest standards. The post is from September 2025 and is to cover the maternity leave of the Reception Class Teacher.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set high expectations that inspire and challenge students.
  • Create a safe, stimulating environment where all students can thrive.
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that build on students' capabilities and prior knowledge.
  • Use assessment to track progress and provide timely, constructive feedback to students.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively and fairly to promote a positive learning atmosphere.
  • Work closely with colleagues, parents, and external agencies to support student well-being and progress.
  • Take responsibility for your own professional development and contribute to the wider life of the school.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Degree level qualification and above.
  • A passion for education and a commitment to raising pupil attainment.
  • A strong understanding of the primary curriculum and best teaching practices.
  • The ability to differentiate and adapt teaching to meet the needs of all students.
  • Good communication, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Experience in managing behaviour and maintaining high standards in the classroom.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students.

The role will be based at Roundthorn Primary Academy but could occasionally involve some travel to other schools within the trust.
