What skills and experience we're looking for

At Garstang St Thomas Church of England Primary School, we are a caring, ambitious and inclusive school where children are encouraged to flourish academically, socially and spiritually. Rooted in a strong Christian ethos, we combine high expectations with genuine warmth, creating a school family in which pupils, staff and families are known, valued and supported. This is a place where great teaching matters, professional growth is encouraged, and staff can make a lasting difference every day.

We are looking to appoint an excellent Early Years teacher to join our enthusiastic and committed team from September 2026 (or January 2027 if further notice period is required).

This is an exciting opportunity for teacher to work in a highly supportive and collaborative setting alongside colleagues who are deeply committed to exceptional Early Years practice. The post will initially be based in our popular, well-established, teacher-led nursery.

We are seeking a skilled and reflective practitioner with a genuine passion for Early Years and a clear understanding of the crucial role these first stages play in shaping children’s learning, development and wellbeing.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is nurturing, enthusiastic and creative, with a clear passion for Early Years
  • Has a positive outlook and approach
  • Has a secure understanding of the EYFS framework and child development
  • Can create a stimulating, inclusive and engaging learning environment
  • Has high expectations for learning, behaviour and achievement
  • Is, or has the potential to become, an outstanding classroom practitioner
  • Can inspire curiosity, independence and a lifelong love of learning
  • Works effectively as part of a team, building strong relationships with colleagues, parents and carers
  • Is committed to contributing positively to the wider life of the school and its community

What the school offers its staff

In return, we offer:

  • A friendly, welcoming and supportive team
  • Strong support for professional development
  • A collaborative environment where your ideas are valued
  • Enthusiastic children who are eager to learn
  • A school community committed to helping both pupils and staff thrive
