Teacher in Charge, Specialist Support Centre (SSC) job summary
The Littlehampton Academy is seeking to appoint an experienced practitioner to manage our specialist support centre or students on the autistic spectrum.
Funded by the local authority, the Scott Centre is a special support facility for up to 15 students of mainstream ability who have social and communication needs. All students have an EHCP for Autism Spectrum Disorder or Semantic Pragmatic Disorder.
The Centre enables students to receive additional support whilst attending mainstream classes with their peers. Inclusion into the mainstream is a gradual process but students are expected to spend up to 80% of their time integrated into mainstream classes. The facility offers a supportive environment providing therapeutic interventions designed to address the individual needs of students.
Commitment to safeguarding
The Littlehampton Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All offers of employment are subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check and, where applicable, a prohibition from teaching check will be completed for all applicants.
All successful applicants will be subject to a period of probation.
Schools are now required, as part of their shortlisting process, to carry out an online search as part of their due diligence.
